Step by step guide on how to create a Merkai MDM account and set-up iPads:

Pre-requisites:
1 – Create itunes email account if required
2 – Create itunes account with apple (https://appleid.apple.com/account?localang=en_US)

Steps (9 total)

Step 1 - Create Meraki Account

Go to https://account.meraki.com/login/new_account
Fill in all details to create new account
Click ‘Create Account’
Validate email address

Step 2 - Create Network

In Overview, create a network
Enter name of network, and select MDM
Click create network.

Step 3 - Obtaining Apple MDM Push Certificate & VPP

For apple devices you now need to obtain an Apple MDM push certificate from apple by going to Oganiation – Settings. Half way down is a section called iOS mobile device management and follow the step-by-step guide:
1 – Download your certificate signing request (CSR), signed by Meraki: Meraki_Apple_CSR.csr
2 - Upload your CSR to Apple and download your push certificate: Apple Push Certificate Portal
3 - Enter the Apple ID used to generate the certificate:
4 - Upload your push certificate (MDM_Meraki_Inc_Certificate.pem) to Dashboard:
If there are more than 20 apple devices, also register for a VPP account from apple (section under iOS MDM)

Step 4 - Set Apps to Automatically install

On the device, make sure that apps are set to automatically set to download (settings – itunes – automatically download apps)

Step 5 - Add Devices

Once this has been done you can then go to MDM – Add devices to get your Network ID (e.g. 123-456-7890).

Then go to m.meraki.com, enter the network ID, press register. This will then download a profile, click install.
If the Meraki MDM app does not download after a few minutes, refresh the webpage and follow the above steps again.

Step 6 - Client Overview

Once all devices have been added you will see them in Monitor – Clients.

Step 7 - Installing Apps

To install apps go to MDM – Apps
Click ‘add new’ (right hand side)
Select iOS app
Search for the app (make sure country is set to ‘Britain (UK)’
Click Add
Then to install on all devices, click save changes (bottom of page) – this will push the app to all devices.

Step 8 - Missing Apps

To see if a device is missing any apps go to Monitor – Clients. On the column headers click ‘+’ and select ‘Missing Apps’, this will show how many pushed apps are missing from each device.
To push a missing app to more than one device, check the boxes next to the relevant devices and select ‘Command’ – ‘Sync Apps’.
