Introduction

Follow these steps if you lose the ability to get e-mails on your iPhone and/or cannot browse a webpage in Safari. This may or may not work for iPhones other than on AT&T and Exchange e-mail in the native mail app.

Steps (4 total)

Part One – Power Cycle the Device

1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button (top of the phone)
2. When the slide to power off screen appears, slide the button left to right
3. The phone powers off
4. Wait 10 seconds
5. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button (top of the phone) until the Apple logo appears
6. Enter your password and try connecting to a website in Safari
7. If you still cannot connect to email AND a website (Wikipedia or Yale.edu) go to Part Two

Part Two – Reset Connections to Carrier Cell Tower(s)

1. On your iPhone tap Settings
2. Tap General
3. Tap Reset
4. Tap Reset Network Settings
5. Enter your 4 digit passcode
6. Tap Reset Network Settings
7. The phone will power cycle

Part Three – Final Steps

1. On your iPhone tap Settings
2. Slide the Airplane Mode slider to the right to turn on Airplane Mode
3. Wait 15 seconds
4. Slide the Airplane Mode slider to the left to turn off Airplane Mode
5. Press the Home button to return to the home screen
6. Tap Safari
7. Tap the Bookmarks button at the bottom of the screen
8. Tap the choice labeled History in the middle of the screen
9. Tap the Clear button at the bottom of the screen
10. Tap Clear All History
11. Tap Done
