Introduction

KioWare for Android Video App
Using a PC or tablet, you can use this how to in conjunction with KioWare to display a plethora of videos for any number of reasons.
You can use videos to advertise, educate, inform, share, or engage users. The set up process can take less than a half hour, and we will provide the configuration file and add in needed to make your device function as a customer-facing video kiosk.

Steps (10 total)

1

What you need to get started

You will need video collateral. There should be six or more videos, although it will work with fewer. You can use more videos, as it will infinitely scroll. You will also need an image file (which we call a “poster”) for each video. The image will display as representative of the video on the home screen. You will also want to provide a logo file for the top of the screen.
2

Install KioWare Basic for Android on your device.

Download the free trial. You will be able to purchase later, once you are sure you are happy with the product deployment. http://www.kioware.com/download.aspx?m=Download&Product=KiowareBasicforAndroid&cat=11
3

Install ES File Explorer on your tablet

This free solution provides you with a simple method of accessing files. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop
4

Import the KioWare Configuration for the video player.

Open the the KioWare Configuration Tool. At the top of the screen (upper right of screen), you will select the "Import XML Setting" Option. We have included the XML file settings for you to access here:http://www.kioware.com/kwwmedia/newsmedia/VideoKioskApp.XML
5

Configure the player with your own content.

All content needs to be copied from your desktop or downloaded to your device. You will need to provide videos. Videos should be named moviename.mp4 (where “moviename” is your Movie Name) and should go to the folder here: /android/data/com/adsi.kioware.client.mobile.app/embedded. To find that folder, you will open ES File Explorer on your tablet.
6

Provide screenshots/still captures of the videos.

They should be sized 320x240 and should be named moviename.mp4.poster.jpg (where “moviename” is the corresponding Movie Name).
7

Captions for each video can also be provided.

The caption file can be created in a .txt file and then should be renamed to moviename.mp4.cap (where “moviename” is the corresponding Movie Name).
8

A logo should also be included for use on the start page.

It should be approximately 150 x 116 or 192 x 116 – width is adjustable.
9

Test your tablet deployment.

Check each video and the kiosk set up. Modify the configuration file or collateral as needed.
