Introduction

After the upgrade from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10 Pro, Hyper-V Manager could not connect to a Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 host. The message is

"An error occurred while attempting to connect to server <host>. Check that the Virtual Machine Management service is running and that you are authorized to connect to the server."
"Hyper-V encountered an error trying to access an object on computer <host> because the object was not found. The object might have been deleted. Verify that the Virtual Machine Management service on the computer is running."

Steps (1 total)

1

Run “MOFCOMP %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsVirtualization.V2.mof”

This rebuilds the WMI components for virtualization.

Conclusion

This is all it took to fix Hyper-V management for me after I upgraded my computer to Windows 10. No reboot or other changes on the server.
